I am a New Yorker. Born in Brooklyn, NY, I am a product of the NYC public school system. I left the city for college. I went to Brandeis University where I studied art, art history and literature and graduated with a B.A., Magna Cum Laude with honors in Painting. On to graduate school and an M.F.A. from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. I studied with Neil Welliver, Paul Georges and Yvonne Jacquette. The gritty urban experience has molded me but occasionally I’ve managed to escape to the country through various grants including Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, The MacDowell Colony, Yaddo and Ucross artist colonies.

My work has been consistently exhibited in museum and gallery shows, starting with Jill Kornblee Gallery in the late 1970s. Today, I am represented by Denise Bibro Fine Art in the Chelsea section of New York City.

In 2001, I was awarded a significant commission from MTA, Arts for Transit. Completed in 2003, it is a 90 ft, glass mosaic mural consisting of 5 walls on the mezzanine of the 42nd and 8th Avenue subway station (at the Port Authority).

My work has also been reviewed and written about in a variety of magazines, newspapers and other media. Art News, the New York Times and American Artist Magazine are just a few examples.

My studio is located in lower Manhattan and I live with my life partner, Tom Duncan. We commute between Soho and the West Village sections of Manhattan. I am also currently teaching drawing at the National Academy of Design, School of Fine Art. I have enjoyed a varied academic experience teaching and lecturing at Pratt Institute, West Connecticut State University and Connecticut College, for example.
